Realised in 1999 by ‘Rob Jennings Developments’ as a solution to guarantee quality and delivery of their own parts, and eventually offering the 'Bay of Plenty' an alternative to sending parts to Auckland, Tauranga Electroplaters was established. The robust and well executed design and manufacture of the plant offered good flow resulting in consistency and a high quality of plating. Quickly developing a name for outstanding quality, expertise and knowledge with timely delivery, the standard was set.
Over the coming years, it would change hands, location and even process, converting from acid to the more environmentally friendly alkaline system, it continued to service the bay and retain its good name.
The challenge, agreed upon by co-owners Matt Smart and Jonathan Moynan when taking over the business in May 2018, was how could they make it better? The mission was clear, meet and surpass the needs and expectations of their loyal customers. Calling on 50 years of combined mechanical engineering, management, practical and operational experience, immediately it was apparent that an upgrade was in order to ensure these fundamentals remained unchanged. System and logistic technologies were introduced to further the ability to track work, chemicals, and quality along with extensive modifications to the plant to comply with environmental and health and safety obligations and regulations. This in turn created opportunities with the ability to handle more volume and larger parts. They are persistent in their strive for excellence through continuous improvement, and undertake projects respectfully ensuring they protect the good name earned by their predecessors.
